July 8 and 9 - Read | Eat | Drink Book Pairing - Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child

July 8 and 9 - Read | Eat | Drink Book Pairing - Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child

On Tuesday, July 8th and Wednesday, July 9th, we welcome you to join us for another Read | Eat | Drink book pairing dinner, where we create a four course set menu centered around a book from our friends and neighbours at Daisy Chain Book Co.

June will feature the one and only Julia Child, and her book Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

Julia was a TV chef and author, most famous for adapting complex French cooking for everyday Americans, in a time when cooking was not in vogue, with her groundbreaking cookbook 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking'. Experts credit this book with "turning the tide" on American food culture 1961, when trends including feminism, food technology and fast food seemed ready to wipe out home cooking.

The menu will be a nod to some of Child’s signature dishes, along with inspiration from our own core food memories. The evening includes a private shopping party at Daisy Chain, a four course dinner, reception cocktail, and a reading of favourite snippets from the book.

This will be a long table service, with some family style offerings. The cost per person is $80 + GST.

We hope to see you there!
